P2
Orthographic, Axonometric & Perspective Drawings
Individually, students are going to produce 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional drawings using orthographic projections in three phases manually and continuously. The purpose is to explore manual projection methods in architectural drawing emphasizing on architectural conventions, symbols and line quality. Besides, students will also explore office method projection and demonstrate the technical knowledge and use them as pictorial drawing in developing design concepts and generate solution to a design problem.
This project is separated into 4 parts, consisting of modeling and drawing.
Take a look:
2A:
Model Making
Farnsworth house, one of the most iconic houses of all time. Our task was to make a 1:100 scale model using material of our choice. SCALE 1:100
2B:
Orthographic Drawings
For 2B, we had to draw Farnsworth's floor plan along with 2 elevations of out choice and 1 section. These 2 A3 papers were my submissions. SCALE 1:100
2C:
Axonometric
Our task in 2C was to draw the axonometric drawing of the house. We used butter paper but since I only had A4 butter paper (we were supposed to use A3 but I couldn't buy it due to lockdown) I had to use 2 A4 papers and stick them together, which explains the line in the middle of the drawing. SCALE 1:100
2D:
Perspectives
Last but not least, we had to draw 1 point perspective and 2 point perspective drawings of the house. This one was the hardest part and took the longest amount of time to understand and draw. The most rushed section for me as well, which is why it came out not as impressive.
Personal Reflection
Very interesting project and the most educational one too. Hope to do more projects like this one in future modules.
